Also there are a lot of camera techniques used in message in a bottle we can see that in the clip the camera has been placed at different angles to add different
meanings we can see in the screenshot above that the camera has been placed at a very low angle to make the character look superior or big to whatever character or the world around her there are other two occasions where the camera has been placed at high angles along the clip as well.
Also in the clip we see areas where the camera has been used to apply a pull focus on certain objects such as the example to the left where the barbed wire has been blurred out to add some sort of importance to the building, also we can see another shot of an low angle shot also while this shot was playing if close attention was paid you would see that the camera slowly moves towards the right also we can say that seamless editing was used which is a mainstream technique where by the viewers hardly notices the editing that has been used on done. This clip hardly used continuity style of editing such as cross cutting and 180 degree rule therefore it was more montage based and we saw in the first few seconds where the kuleshov technique was used where two shots with no relationship are literally show after each other which makes the viewer think thereby using intellectual montage we can see the screenshot in the first two above and also the shot of the girl on the road and then it cuts to the building leaving viewers clueless of whats going on. Also we can also see that they have definitely used one camera because each time they show a shot is from a different angle and also the camera didn't follow the girl when she was in the building climbing the stairs the camera was actually set up in one spot and she literally just walked across the camera and climbed the stairs.
- Tarantino is a contemporary movie producer who uses montage to add artistic touches to his videos, he uses a lot of close ups to show a characters emotions editing has advanced for switching between two shots to show emotions to now using a sing shot to show emotions there by reducing the amount of shots that will have to be taken or edited he also slows down the tempo of his shots and and the rhythm to show tension and to make the viewers know that the character is tensed or nervous about what's actually going on.
The main purpose he did this was to make the storyline firm by developing the dram and also he uses alot of shots in a sequences and he does creates pace whenever he wants it to go high it does if he wants it to go low it does as well.
- Nolan uses a mixture of both continuity as he decided to keep some of the rules of continuity such as cross cutting but he other cases he has actually broke them there by adding artistic touches to his editing and also at the same time using montage and partly continuity he also uses a lot of non-linear editing which gives him mire reason to break continuity because non-linear either starts form the middle or the end and the viewers at the beginning have no clue of what is actually going on until they start to see flash backs which also breaks continuity to an extent.
As we have seen above in the examples of Tarantino and Nolan's work we can see that they both use a mixture of continuity and montage techniques the main reason they have done this is in other to add style and make their work look artistic.
